The Easy Way To Pay It Forward

July 24th, 2009. Published under Motivational. No Comments.

Donation is a very vague word, it can mean anything from one dollar to millions, but this is because a donation is something completely up to the person giving it, it is a selfless act that needs no boundaries or rewards. Donations to charities are the most common in today’s society, there are multiple organizations operating simply off of donations that seek to help out the less fortunate. These organizations are most time’s non-profit’s which aren’t seeking to expand business, only expand the number of people they can help.

When a person decides to use a charity to give a donation, they give an amount of money, or even their time, which helps the cause, they don’t normally get to decide how this money is spent, because that is up to the organization. But they do know that they are making a difference to a cause for things not as fortunate as they are.

In recent years it has become popular for television shows to host celebrity guests and let their winnings go to charity. This is a great way to get celebrities to appear on shows giving a higher caliber of entertainment regardless of the amount of money they would earn on the show. This method also brings to light many charities and provides great publicity for these organizations; even if the participants don’t win, the audience will still hear about the charity and possibly make a donation of their own.

A good number of charities raise awareness for injustices around the world, such as starving children or victims of genocides. Some are solely medical based sending all their funds into research to help cure diseases like cancer, diabetes, and HIV. Many times in order for charities to make raising this money more enjoyable, friendly games and competitions are put on. Races are a popular event used to raise money, where the contestants ask for donations from family, friends and co-workers in order to sponsor them depending on how many miles they run. The race itself can even turn into an event drawing a crowd and awareness to a cause, and many times sponsors will cover event fee’s and refreshments.

The ways people can donate has become much easier in recent years as well; with the rise in popularity of the Internet many charities allow you to donate electronically with a debit or credit card. However with this added ease of use it is important to still be cautious whenever donating, be sure to check that the charity you are donating to is valid and is not a scam. It is wise to avoid emails asking for money, or websites that ask for large amounts and personal information like social security numbers. Charities should never be pushy when looking for donations or volunteers.
