This Season’s Hottest Accessory Trends

Summer is all about bright colours, skirts, clam digger trousers and dresses, but more often than not it is the accessories you wear that really make or break your look.
Too much and you suddenly have an overly busy style that totally ruins the look you were going for, yet having no accessories at all can be even worse. So creating the right balance of trendy accessories really is key to looking great this summer.
Now the number one accessory for summer has to be your sunglasses. Last year’s sunglasses were all about being massively oversized, yet this trend has already started to die off and the summer hasn’t even properly started yet. While some people are still trying to cling to these massive sunglasses they might soon start looking rather unfashionable for people out of the ‘know’.
One of the greatest things about accessories is that they tend to be long lasting, not just in quality but also in terms of fashion. This is especially true for jewellery, which can be used again and again for years, but it is also true for things such as sunglasses, as long as you buy lasting styles.
Yet sunglasses are still trending to be quite large, just no where near as big as last years. Aviators are still going to be highly popular this summer, as they have been for possibly the past forty years!
In fact if you are looking to spend a lot of money on sunglasses there really is no alternative to aviators, as while other styles go in and out of fashion they never seem to, making them a great long lasting purchase if well looked after.
Next up are watches, and with summer styles almost exclusively being short sleeved or sleeveless cut now is the time to really show them off. You can spend thousands of pounds on a designer watch, yet a lot of designers really are starting to focus on the one hundred to two hundred pound range.
While this may sound expensive to some, watches are very much like sunglasses in that if you pick the right style you can keep it for a long time without having to worry about fashion changes. This summer is trending toward narrow watches made of silver or platinum, with a squared face.
Gold jewellery still hasn’t recovered, especially in more casual wear and so silver is leading the way in terms of affordable watches. Avoid circular fronted watches this summer, as they are predominantly part of men’s fashion this season.
Necklaces are great this summer, although try to avoid larger items unless you wear plus size clothes. The hottest looks are fine silver necklaces with smaller effeminate pendants. They can vary greatly in price, from twenty pounds to thousands, yet even a fairly inexpensive necklace can really transform your look.
Normally these smaller more delicate pieces of jewellery such as necklaces and watches are lost under clothing, especially in winter, so summer is the greatest time to show them off with low cut tops or dresses that have short sleeves.
