Coffee beans should be initially brewed and grounded before placing them inside coffee makers. Grinding the beans can be done at home, in a roastery or a grocery. It can be grounded in various ways. An electric grinder smashes the beans with rounded blades rotating at high speed. A bur mill uses rotating elements to shear the coffee bean. A crude method will be to crush beans with a mortar and pestle.
Turkish coffee grinders are one of the finest, while the French press or coffee percolators are the coarsest grinders. The most common are between mediums. An extreme grinder is used in most home coffee brewing machines.
Coffee beans can be brewed in various ways such as pressured, steeped or boiled. Making coffee by boiling is the most basic way. An example of this is the Turkish coffee. It is prepared by grinding the beans with a mortar and pestle, then adding the grinded coffee beans to the water and bringing onto a pot of boiling water known as a cezve.
Once the coffee is brewed, it can be served in a variety of ways such as drip, brewed, French pressed or percolated coffee that can be served with no sugar or additives or with either cream, milk or both. Cold is a variant that is also called iced coffee.
